Crowns

Treatment Options:

Crowns can be made from gold, porcelain, metal alloy, zirconia or a combination.

Recent advances allow Zirconia/porcelain crowns (Lava Crowns) to be extremely strong, longer lasting, healthier for the gums and very cosmetic as opposed to the porcelain + metal variety, which usually results to a visible grey undertone.

A porcelain crown creates a natural tooth appearance and protects weakened tooth structure at risk of fracture. Following endodontic (root-canal) treatment, a tooth is usually best restored with filling material and a crown installed to protect and strengthen the tooth. Crowns can also be used for purely cosmetic reasons.

Effectiveness:

With its natural translucence, a well-crowned tooth is virtually indistinguishable from an all-natural tooth. Making and fitting a crown properly requires a high degree of dental skill and experience. Hand-crafted crowns are designed to the individual patient’s requirements, usually by a highly specialized lab, then fitted by one of Capistrano Dental’s highly trained experts.
